The Institute of European Studies of the JU received funding as part of a prestigious EU project H2020

It is our great pleasure to inform you that the Institute of European Studies of the Jagiellonian University received funding as part of a prestigious EU project Horizon 2020 (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks).

The project entitled "The Post-Crisis Legitimacy of the European Union (PLATO) – European Training Network" will be financed by the European Commission and will take 4 years. The coordinating body of the project is the Centre for European Studies at the University of Oslo.

The aim of the project is to investigate the legitimization crisis currently visible in the European Union. A team built up of 15 young researchers supported by experienced academics and experts will analyze how democracy, authority, law, economy and social awareness affect one another and determine the way that the political order is legitimized in Europe nowadays.

Interdisciplinary research will be carried out in 9 academic centers and PhD students involved in the project will intern in non-government organizations, the media and companies specializing in Europe.

The project manager from the Jagiellonian University is Professor Zdzisław Mach, and Doctor Natasza Styczyńska is the project coordinator.

The consortium is composed of 9 universities:

  3. Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques (France),
  4. Institute for Advanced Studies (Austria),
  5. Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (Czech Republic),

  7. University of Antwerp (Belgium),
  8. University of Cambridge (Great Britain),
  9. University of Twente (the Netherlands).
