During the seminar, we will analyze how many lawsuits related to environmental crimes in Mexico were successfully prosecuted between 2012 and 2022. Also, we will try to identify Mexico`s regional illicit wildlife markets with official data. The study covers three presidential terms, from different political parties, and provides statistics based on official judicial data. It is worth mentioning that the research focuses on the work of environmental activists and their role in a context of extreme violence such as Mexico, one of the countries most affected by transnational organized crime. The seminar presents the research conducted together with Socorro Flores.
