Monographs of the employees of the Faculty receive awards for the best publications of 2017 and 2018

On 8 November 2018, Adam Kirpsza, PhD and Tomasz Pugacewicz, PhD were awarded by the Polish International Studies Association (PTSM) for the best original monograph on International Relations published in 2016 and 2017, respectively. A doctoral dissertation of a graduate of the faculty’s doctoral studies written under supervision of an employee of the Faculty was also awarded.

The award ceremony took place within the inauguration of the 8th PTSM convention in Poznań. The awards were handed by Professor Teresa Łoś-Nowak, the president of the Award Committee, which consisted of 11 members, including the representatives of particular sections of the Association (in Białystok, Gdańsk, Kielce, Krakow, Lublin, Łódź, Poznań, Warsaw, and Wrocław), one member chosen by the General Board, and the president of the PTSM.

Adam Kirpsza, PhD received the award for his monograph Jak negocjować w Brukseli? Proces podejmowania decyzji w Unii Europejskiej (How to Negotiate in Brussels? Decision-making in the European Union)  (Warsaw: Wydawnictwo Naukowe Scholar, 2016), whereas Tomasz Pugacewicz, PhD for his monograph Teorie polityki zagranicznej: perspektywa amerykańskiej analizy polityki zagranicznej (Theories of Foreign Policy. The Perspective of American FPA) (Krakow: Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego, copyright 2017).

The award for the best doctoral dissertation on International Relations defended in the years 2016–2017 was granted to Mateusz Filary-Szczepanik, PhD, who graduated from interdisciplinary doctoral studies in the field of American studies at the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora of the Jagiellonian University. In 2017 at the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Krakow, he defended the thesis titled Realistyczne teorie Hansa Morgenthaua i Kennetha Waltza na tle debat konstytuujących stosunki międzynarodowe jako dyscyplinę akademicką (Hans Morgenthau’s and Kenneth Waltz’s Realist Theories in View of the Great Debates Constituting International Relations as an Academic Discipline) written under supervision of Professor Bogdan Szlachta.
