We are pleased to invite you to the roundtable “What is Global China?”.

Here is some more information about the event:

Description: There are few who would question that China is a key international actor that can affect processes and outcomes from Mekong to the Moon. Chinese investments and infrastructural ventures are mushrooming not only in the remotest corners of the world, but are also eyeing the depths of outer space, while the country’s influence is spreading both within established international organizations and institutions newly established by Beijing. Yet, is such preoccupation with trade figures, infrastructural investments, and geopolitical rivalry sufficient to capture the phenomenon of Global China? The participants at this roundtable will explore the possible answers to these questions by exploring the full spectrum of topics, issues, and perspectives prompted by the notion and practices of Global China.

Participants:

  • Professor Shih Chih-yu (National Taiwan University),
  • Dr. Marina Rudyak (Heidelberg University),
  • Professor Maximilian Mayer (University of Bonn),
  • Dr. David O’Brien (Jagiellonian University)

Moderator: Professor Emilian Kavalski (Jagiellonian University)
