We would like to invite you to an open lecture devoted to resilience - one of the most important and at the same contested concepts in contemporary IR and Security Studies. The lecture will be delivered by Dr Marco Krüger from International Center for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities, University of Tübingen, Germany.

When? Thursday, 30 November, 17:00-18:30 ul. Reymonta 4, room: 108

The open lecture is a part of a Future Democracy Lab sub-project entitled “Managing Crises Through Adaptability, Endurance and Resilience”. The project focuses on analysis of different modes of resilience across Europe and discusses a variety of interpretations and enactments of resilience in regard to German, Polish and Ukrainian contexts and approaches to national security as well as crisis and disaster management.

Dr Marco Krüger works as a senior researcher and research group lead at the International Centre for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities at the University of Tübingen. His expertise lies in the fields of (critical) security studies and security ethics. In his work, Marco analysed German as well as international disaster management regime and traced the emancipatory potential of resilience. He is the principal investigator of several research projects which approach resilience policies from different angles, including the consideration of societally marginalized groups, such as care-recipients and impaired people, in security politics. Furthermore, Marco is a member of the parliamentary commission “Resilient Society” of the parliament of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg.
