About the Centre

The Nomos Centre was established in 2020 as a trans-disciplinary research collective that gathers international researchers from various European countries in order to coordinate research in critical legal studies and related fields. The Centre has the ambitions of becoming the first truly international CLS institution based in Central-Eastern Europe, with a view to provide a more geographically balanced approach to critical legal scholarship.

The Centre democratically chooses and announces a research theme for every year and, subsequently, organises a conference to share research results on it. Apart from this, it develops a wide range of activities - publications, guest lectures and cooperation with other friendly institutions. It disposes of a library, based in Kraków and accessible to every member.

In its policies, the Centre pays special attention to gender balance and diversity amongst its members.

The Centre is open to all scholars whose research concerns critical legal studies or neighbouring fields. If you want to become a member, please contact us.
