Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Students of the Jagiellonian University’s Faculty of International and Political Studies!
The inauguration of the 2022/2023 academic year prompts me to cordially welcome you all – both the Students who are beginning, and the Students who are continuing their education in various study programs conducted by the Institutes, Chairs, and Centers of our Faculty. I would like to congratulate those who successfully passed the recruitment process and made the crucial decision concerning the direction of education, as well as those who positively ended their exam sessions. You all co-create an interdisciplinary and international Family of Students of the Faculty, which motto „We teach to understand the world" is implemented since many decades by an ambitious and passionate academic staff. I hope that all the expectations you have with respect to the quality of the learning process will be met, and that the coming academic year will bring many positive impressions in education and social relations. After anxious and uneasy times of the pandemic, there are no obstacles in pursuing the didactic process in classrooms and the authorities of the Faculty do not find reasons for returning to online teaching, with just few exceptions, information about which you can find on the websites of your study programs.
Most of the classes will be conducted in the new building of the Faculty at 4 Reymonta Street, as well as in the building of the Institute of Far and Middle East, at 2a Oleandry Street. I am convinced that the newly renovated classrooms equipped with high-quality multimedia devices will serve as a strong support in the didactic process, and that common spaces for the Students, as Café Pastelove, or the Faculty's Cantine (planned to open in November), will become important places of integration for the academic community of our institution.
I wish you a lot of didactic and scientific successes, development of your skills, interests, and passions, and, above all, deepening social relations when they seem even more important than ever. Please remember that in cases concerning the learning process or functioning of the University you may turn to the heads of your programs, the Directors of the Institutes, or to Faculty authorities. Our role is to support you in every aspect of your academic functioning and enable the fastest and most efficient individual development and critical thinking about the surrounding world. I also wish you good health, without which it is hard to imagine the accomplishment of personal and scientific plans. Let it be a positive and successful academic year at the Faculty of International and Political Studies!
With best regards,
Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies of the Jagiellonian University
Prof. Paweł Laidler
